Assistant General Chairperson - Four Year Term
Assistant General Chair Floyd Baptist has been an employee of Hawaiian Airlines for 41 years. He has been both a member and officer of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers for 25 years.
Baptist first served as a Shop Steward from 1983 to 1986, serving members in Honolulu. Later, he went on to serve and chair both the Hawaiian Airlines Clerical and Grievance Committee and the Clerical and Mechanical Grievance Committee.
Baptist was District Lodge 141’s Vice President for Hawaii from 1992 until 1999. He subsequently went on to serve as Assistant General Chairperson for United members in Northern California and Reno, Nevada with assignments on behalf of United’s Reservations workers in Seattle and Los Angeles.
He is currently an Assistant General Chairperson assigned to serve members at Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Philippine Airlines and United Airlines in the Hawaiian Islands. In this capacity he has represented numerous members at various stages of the grievance process.
Baptist has been on the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Worker’s negotiation team for both Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines. He is also the Director of the Human Rights Committee for District 141 and has served as a delegate to many District 141 and Grand Lodge conventions.
