Gene Beatty, candidate for Vice President East, is currently a member of the District Lodge 141 Joint Safety Committee, a Shop Steward and Trustee of Local Lodge 2508 in Orlando, Florida. He has served on the Grievance Committee since 2002 and Chairperson since 2005.
Beatty comes from a union family. His father, Robert E. Beatty, was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers from 1945 until he retired in 1983 and served both as President and Grievance Committee Chair at Local Lodge 1044 in Pittsburgh. Gene's brothers, Robert J. and Mark, also are active union members with the Ironworkers Local Union 3 in Pittsburgh.
Beatty was hired by United Airlines in 1988 to work in Cabin and Ramp Service at IADCG. In 1991, he transferred to Ramp Service at ORDCG. He has been working on the Ramp at MCOCG since 1999.
At the William W. Winpisinger Education & Technology Center, Beatyy completed the Leadership I, II and III programs. He also earned Certificates of Achievement from the 24 Hours Joint Labor and Management Accident/Incident Prevention Training Program and the IAM/UAL Safety Advocate Training Program.
Beatty was also elected to serve as a delegate to each of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 141 Conventions since 2002.
