Assistant General Chairperson - Four Year Term

Assistant General Chair Pat Flynn will complete his 30th year with USAirways on June 30, 2008.

Flynn began his union career with the Teamsters before the USAirways/Piedmont merger. He represented the Teamsters as a panel member of the System Board for Grievance Resolution and as a Principle Board Member for arbitration.

During the merger with Piedmont Airlines, the National Mediation Board (NMB) ruled to hold a representational election in which Flynn served as an organizer during the campaign.

As a Machinist, Flynn served as a Shop Steward and Committeeman before assuming the position of District Lodge 141 Vice President at Large in 1999. He was re-elected to the position in 2000 and 2002. In 2004, he was elected to the position of Assistant General Chairman (AGC) and has served in that capacity since.

As Vice President, Flynn served as chief negotiator for several fixed-base operations and negotiated contracts on those properties. He has been a member of the negotiating teams for all restructuring agreements for USAirways through both bankruptcies.

Flynn worked under both NMB and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regulations in his capacity of chief negotiator. As an AGC, he has successfully arbitrated numerous grievances, returning many members to their jobs.

Flynn is a graduate from the National Labor College and has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Union Leadership.

“It has been an honor to serve the members over the years,” Flynn states.
