S. R. "Randy" Canale

President and Directing General Chairperson - Four Year Term

S. R. "Randy" Canale is President and Directing General Chairman of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 141. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Pennsylvania State Council of Machinists.

United Airlines employed President Canale in 1963. In 1964, Canale was elected as Trustee of his Local Lodge 1776. In 1967, Canale was then elected to lead the Local 1776 as its President, he was also elected as Chairman of the Grievance Committee, he held those positions until 1974, when he was elected as Assistant General Chairman. In 1999 Canale went on to become President and Directing General Chairman of District Lodge 141. In 2006 Canale was elected to the Law Committee for the International and currently holds that position.

Throughout his union service, Canale has vigorously pursued his education in union leadership. He graduated from the Penn State Labor Leadership Academy and has taken courses incuding: law, collective bargaining, organizing, political education, training and arbitration.

President Canale has a strong interest in reviving America's system of occupational training and is an active participant in the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers's new issues campaign: "America's Edge: Our Skills, Our Kids."

He also served as a member of the Delaware County Private Industry Council, the Advisory Board of Delaware County Technical Schools, the Pennsylvania State Job Training and Coordinating Council, Delaware County Operation Jobs and the Philadelphia Area Labor/Management Committee. In addition, President Canale has served in various capacities for the American Red Cross, the United Way and organizations for senior citizens. Since 1986, he has been a team manager and coach for the Babe Ruth Baseball League.

President Canale's primary focus has always been the membership of District Lodge 141. His steady leadership and tough negotiating practices held the line against relentless attacks by the airline companies during the waves of bankruptcies that followed 9-11. He is committed to building strength through organizing efforts, including the current campaign on behalf of Ramp workers at Delta, Air Tran, and Continental. With the support of General Vice President Robert Roach, Jr., he is a leader in our District's efforts to protect the interests of members in the event of further mergers in the industry.
