Assistant General Chairperson - Four Year Term
Assistant General Chair Steve Miller began his union career as a Shop Steward for the Teamsters at US Airways, where he worked from 1988 to 1990. He was an Employee Representative when that union was decertified, but Miller quickly joined the committee to organize for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. After a successful organizing effort in 1995 Miller became a Shop Steward with the IAM, and has also served on the District Lodge Safety Committee.
At Local Lodge 1726, Miller served as Trustee and Interim Financial Secretary. He also served as the Local Lodge’s Vice President.
Miller has represented members in Boston, Providence, Manchester and Hartford, enforcing the Collective Bargaining Agreement in those cities. He also participated in Step 2 and 3 grievance hearings and assisted Assistant General Chairpersons and Grand Lodge Representatives in representing the membership in arbitration hearings and contract ratifications in the New England area.
Miller became Committee Chairman for the union in New England in 1999. He also serves on the Solidarity/Negotiating Committee.
